Things to consider:
Main factors that decide which pocket door you choose:
- Door Fit
- Dimensions
- Height of your door
- Width of your door
- Depth of your cabinet
- Thickness of your door

- Door Fit: Inset or Overlay
This is customer choice – depending on the desired appearance.
Our Pocket Door systems will do one or the other (sometimes both)
Note: For a pocket door, the door can only overlay the sides of the cabinet - not the top or bottom, to allow it to retract.
2. Door Dimensions & Weight:
The different systems vary in the size and weight of door that they can handle. The main difference is how they keep the door straight.
This is because the door will naturally want to ‘fall over’ (due to gravity).
This has the effect of trying to pull the top of the door OUT, and pushing the bottom of the door IN.
Know your door height
With smaller or lighter doors, it is possible to use a simple “follower strip”. This is a strip of wood, screwed to both slides, to keep them in line.
There are 4 screw holes at the top and 4 at the bottom that prevent the follower strip from rotating on the bracket. This keeps the slides aligned.

For taller, wider and/or heavier doors, screws in a wooden follower strip may not be strong enough.
Why?
- Wood is soft and can distort, especially when under constant pressure
- The holes in the brackets are slightly larger than the screws
This will cause the door to no longer hang straight
3. Weight of your door
Taller, wider and/or heavier doors, a smarter mechanism is required. Consider the 1532 slide.
